About Arduino IDE and Apple Silicon Macs released in November 2020

Date - 9th February 2021.

We have been getting some unpleasant support requests about using the Arduino IDE on new Apple computers based on their M1 chipsets. Well some were unpleasant, some neutral. Everyone is different. 

Our short answer is - IDE may install and operate, however totally unreliable and may not work at all depending on your board type. 

IDE currently runs through Apple's Rosetta 2 Intel CPU emulation. Arduino Create platform most likely will not work. 

You say "That's not good enough!"... It's out of our control. Arduino team is aware and working on native M1 IDE. We recommend you follow Arduino news site for updates.
