1602 Character LCD Modules with Negative RGB
Now available from PMD Way are these fun and useful HD44780-compatible LCD modules with negative RGB color system. Displays consisit of two rows of sixteen characters, with white text on an RGB LED backlight.
You can select between 5V and 3.3V operating voltage, so ideal for Arduino and Raspberry Pi.
Using the displays is just like any other parallel LCD you are used to, except instead of sixteen interface pins - there are eighteen. Pin 15 is the anode for the RGB LED backlight, then 16 to 18 are the cathodes for red, green and blue.
You can then treat the backlight like any normal RGB LED to create the color you need. The LCD has current limiting resistors, so you just need to connect 5V or 3.3V as selected earlier.
