If you're always using a lot of buttons in temporary projects or prototypes - consider this neat eight-button breakout board. 

They're easy to use - connect the GND pin to your circuit's GND (!) then button pins to your digital inputs. When a button is pressed, it shorts the input to GND. 

If you are using an Arduino board, set the internal pull-up resistor to ON when using digital inputs with this board.
