Remote MCP23017 I2C 16-bit Port Expander Breakout Board
Easily access the powerful MCP23017 I2C 16-bit Port Expander with this remote breakout board from PMD Way. It contains the useful port expander on a hardy PCB breakout board.
Unlike the other breakout boards, this unit is designed for easy connection to development boards such as the Raspberry Pi - thanks to the inclusion of the jumper leads. However you can also solder your own wires directly to the board.
You can change the I2C bus address by shorting the A0/A1/A2 pads on the PCB. There's also a handy power-on LED, and pull-up resistors are also fitted for the I2C bus.
The MCP23017 allows you to add sixteen inputs or outputs (in two pairs of eight) easily to any platform with an I2C interface. The MCP23017 is easy to use, and quite hardy.
