Build an Animated LED Coffee Table
If you're interested in showing your technical and maker skills to your visitors, friends and family - then consider making one of the following animated LED coffee tables described by instructables member rgco.
They have embedded 64 LEDs in a typical matrix inside a cut-out of the surface of an IKEA "Lack" table. These LEDs are controlled by an Arduino Nano-compatible board via the typical MAX7219-compatible driver IC.
Considering the low cost of the tables and the required electronics, this is a fun project with a lot of potential. Check out the video below for some interesting footage:
