Emulate a Flip-Clock with Arduino
Flip clocks were an incredibly popular way of display the time and date, as they were cheaper than using digital electronics in their time.
They consisted of an electromechanial device that rotated and "flipped" panels with numbers or data on a regular basis - such as hours or minutes, for example:
Unfortunately for the retro technology enthusiast those days have passed, however thanks to the Arduino you can recreate your own using software - such as the following example by funnypolynomial in hackaday.io.
They've used a larger LCD with an Arduino and real-time clock IC module to emulate a flip-clock in software, and have done a marvelous job. Check it out in the video below:
