Tempus - a Metric Clock

Some of you may be thinking "a metric clock?" Yes, metric time was a thing and various groups of people have attempted to use this different method of time measurement without much success. 

However like most obscure things, they never die but get brought back to the zeitgeist in "The Simpsons"...

However it's more than a comedy line, and Dick Bipes created an analog metric clock using three inexpensive stepper motors and a TI MSP430 microcontroller platform. 

The clock displays the full range of metric time, up to 100 hours, 100 minutes, and 100 seconds. As you can't use mains AC signals easily to generate a pulse, the microcontroller takes care of driving the clock to a degree of accuracy. Check it out in the following video:
