Now available from PMD Way is the accurate DS3231 real time clock IC in SMD packaging. We like the DS3231 as it doesn't require an external crystal, and has an internal temperature compensation system to maintain excellent accuracy.

The main benefit over the cheaper DS1307 is the increased accuracy, the DS3231 is down to +/-3.5ppm whereas the DS1307 can vary wildly depending on the temperature, quality and accuracy of the external crystal and capacitors. 

We also range DS3231 breakout boards to save you time and effort.
