Now available from PMD Way is this easy to use 4 Digit 7 Segment Clock LCD Panel. 

The pin spacing is 2.54mm (0.1") so you can even drop it into a solderless breadboard as shown in the images. 

Great for low-power projects or where you need a classic numeric display.

Note that you can't just wire these up and drive them like an LED display, you need a driver IC or some controls. See Dave's video for an idea:
