This neat Two in One - Laser Range Distance Sensor and Tape Measure from PMD Way contains a typical tape measure, and a full-featured high-resolution laser sensor that can be used to measure distance, area, volume and pythagorean calculations. 

The tape measure has a length of five metres, with an auto-locking system. You can use the options menu to select the maximum range for the laser measuring system. A belt-buckle is fitted so you don't lose your measure on the site.

Power is provided by an internal rechargeable battery, and you can easily recharge using your own micro USB cable and charger.
