Need more I/O pins? Use the SX1509 16 Output I/O Expander Breakout from PMD Way. 

The SX1509 Breakout is a 16-channel GPIO expander with an I2C interface. Along with providing more GPIO pins, it can produce PWM or blink pins - ideal for LED control.

Or it can interface with 64 buttons as an 8x8 matrix thanks to the SX1509's keyboard function. 

The board arrives fully assembled and all the pinouts are labelled for easy use. Inline header pins are included but not soldered to the board. 

Specifications:

  • 16 channels of bidirectional I/O pins
  • Offers level shifting between I/O pins and host board
  • 5.5V tolerant pins, up to 15mA output
  • internal LED driver with intensity settings
  • internal keypad scanner supports up to 64 buttons in an 8x8 configuration
  • compatible with I2C bus running at 400 kHz
