25mm 8kg Disc Electromagnets from PMD Way with free delivery

Small Size, Strong Hold: Meet PMD Way’s 25mm Disc Electromagnets

Need a compact way to hold an iron component and release it using electrical control? PMD Way’s 25mm Disc Electromagnets offer up to 8kg of holding force in a body measuring just 25mm across and 20mm thick.

Available in 6V DC, 12V DC and 24V DC versions, these electromagnets are a practical option for automation projects, machinery and custom holding mechanisms.

Holding Power You Can Switch

An electromagnet gives you control over when magnetic holding force is applied. Connect power to energise the coil; disconnect power to remove the powered magnetic attraction.

That makes these compact units useful for projects where an iron part needs to be held during one stage of a process, then released for the next. Potential applications include positioning fixtures, sorting mechanisms and automated handling equipment.

With three voltage options available, you can choose the version that matches your project’s DC supply.

Compact Construction for Easy Integration

Each electromagnet combines a solid iron housing with a copper coil and epoxy resin sealing. The body features IP68-rated protection against water and dust, while an M4 threaded mounting hole provides a convenient attachment point.

At approximately 53g, the compact unit is easy to accommodate where space and weight matter.

Key specifications include:

  • Dimensions: 25mm diameter × 20mm thick

  • Voltage options: 6V DC, 12V DC or 24V DC

  • Maximum stated holding force: Up to 8kg

  • Mounting: M4 threaded hole

  • Construction: Iron housing and copper coil

  • Sealing: Epoxy resin

  • Protection rating: IP68

  • Weight: Approximately 53g

Getting the Best Hold

Good contact is essential to magnetic holding performance. The stated maximum force depends on the material being held and how closely it meets the magnet’s face.

For the best results, use a thick, flat iron surface that fully covers the contact face. Keep the surfaces directly together: gaps and uneven contact reduce holding strength. Thin iron parts may also provide less holding force than thicker pieces.

Magnetic attraction is concentrated in the central cylinder, so alignment matters when designing your fixture. Test the magnet with your actual workpiece and operating conditions to establish the holding performance your application can achieve.

Put Magnetic Control to Work

From packaging and sorting machinery to workshop prototypes, these disc electromagnets provide a compact starting point for electrically controlled holding. Their small footprint, threaded mounting and choice of DC voltages make them straightforward to incorporate into a suitable design.
